Description

Bichon's love company, are very social and love to go everywhere with their owners. Friendly and adaptable, the Bichon can adjust well in homes with children. They are energetic companions and love to cuddle. Good food and loving family can make a very happy and well balanced Bichon puppy. If you're looking for a wonderful family pet, consider the Bichon. This dog loves to play. He's always happy (except when left alone for long periods of time), and his demeanor is affectionate and gentle.

Size: With compact bodies, baby-doll faces, and fluffy white hair, Bichons are a very appealing breed whose looks are enhanced by a perky, good-natured disposition. They are often mistaken for white Poodles.

Personality: A cheerful attitude is the outstanding trait of the Bichon's personality.
Bichons have a reputation for suffering from separation anxiety. If you must leave your dog home alone for long periods of time, this may not be the dog for you. Bichons don't like to be without their families. They adjust well to a variety of lifestyles, as long as they don't have to spend too much time alone.

Temperament: Good natured and intelligent. Their friendly and social nature extends to visitors and other pets in the house, besides their owners. Protective and family oriented they are good watchdogs letting their owners know in case of intrusion and threat. Sensitive and responsive, they are also very affectionate and love to play. Their zesty and energetic disposition is subtle, and they are not as hyper as some other breeds. They bask in their owner’s attention and love curling up in their laps or on the couches. They are clever and also love to entertain their owner with their clever tricks. The Bichon are prone to sudden energy spurts where they run around the house.

Activity Requirements: Their high energy levels make them very playful dogs that need to exercise daily. A long walk can be beneficial in keeping them calm and preventing restlessness. Bichon puppies love the outdoors, but can be particularly happy if kept busy with activity and games indoors. They also love water and enjoy swimming.

Behavioral Traits: The Bichon poo mix pup also does not take teasing well. Bichons generally get along well with other animals and people, but they will alert you when strangers come to the door.

Diet: 1/2 to 1.5 cups of high-quality dry food a day, divided into two meals.
How much your adult dog eats depends on his size, age, build, metabolism, and activity level.

Keeping this all in mind, general guidelines are as follows:
2 to 4 lbs. 1/3 to 1/2 cups per day.
5 to 8 lbs. 1/2 to 3/4 cups per day.
8 to 10 lb. adult = 1/2 to 3/4 cups per day.
10 to 12 lb. adult = 3/4 to 1 cup per day.
13 to 16 lb. adult = 1 to 1 and 1/4 cups per day.

Trainability: Bichons are intelligent and love to learn tricks, and they're highly trainable.
House breaking is hence easy and quick as they are also fast learners. Eager to please, and wanting the owner’s praise and attention, they can be taught tricks. Toilet training is also easy.

Colors: Bichons are always white (although puppies may be cream or pale yellow), with black eyes and black noses. Their arched necks give them a proud, confident look, while their well-plumed tails curve gracefully over their backs. White & Cream, White & Buff, White & Apricot, Cream or Pale Yellow
